The birth of a child is such an important event. The staff of the Lund Family Birth Center at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center is privileged to help celebrate birth by providing support and compassionate care throughout the birth process.
The Lund Family Birth Center staff is specially trained and experienced in assisting families throughout the birth process and helping them prepare to care for their new infant at home. Our team of specialists provides families with the compassionate care, education, and support they deserve and will collaborate with their physicians to meet their medical needs.
The Lund Family Birth Center is designed to allow expectant mothers and members of their immediate family to experience the birth of their baby in comfortable surroundings. Although we strive to keep the environment comfortable and homey, state-of-the-art systems, services, and equipment are readily available to provide optimum care to mothers and babies.
After the birth, we encourage the mother, family, and infant to spend as much time as possible to get to know each other. This couplet care model allows bonding with the supportive care and guidance of the nursing staff and specialists, including lactation consultants.
Effective December 3, 2012 children 12 years old and under will be screened and must be well before visiting the Lund Family Birth Center. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and healthy environment for our patients.
The Lund Family Birth Center consists of:
- Six private labor, delivery and recovery suites
- Sixteen private couplet care rooms
- Two cesarean section suites with adjacent recovery room and nursery
- Four special care beds in the nursery for infants needing extra care and support
