General and Obstetric Ultrasound

Ultrasound imaging, a painless medical test that helps doctors diagnose and treat medical conditions, provides real-time images of the inside of the body by exposing the body part to high-frequency sound waves. Also called ultrasound scanning or sonography, ultrasound exams do not use x-ray. The real-time nature of this exam is helpful in viewing movement of the body's internal organs, as well as blood flowing through vessels.

An ultrasound might be used to diagnose symptoms such as pain, swelling or infection. It's also used to examine the function of internal organs and blood flow, or used during certain procedures to guide instruments.

Our diagnostic imaging services, which features Acuson 512 and GE Logic 700 Ultrasound machines, provides information for the diagnosis for more than 5,000 patients each year. Areas of specialty include abdominal, gynecological, obstetrical, peripheral vascular, cerebral vascular and interventional sonography.
