Preparing for Surgery

Your Recovery

When your surgery is complete, you will be taken to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)/Recovery Room, and the surgeon will speak to your family and friends in the waiting room to let them know how the surgery went and what to expect next. Occasionally an unexpected emergency may prevent this from happening. If the surgery takes longer than scheduled, it doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong, only that it is taking longer than expected and the surgeon wants to do what is best for you.
