Volunteers in Action

Volunteers at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center enhance the health and well-being of our patients. Utilizing the GetWellNetwork®, volunteers developed a way for patients to request a visit from one of the many trained and lovable canines through the Paws for Patients program. Request for visits has increased 161 percent and the program has been shown to reduce stress, enhance self-esteem and help patients express their feelings.
