Martin G. Breeden is Vice President of Mission Integration for Catholic Healthcare West’s (CHW) Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers. He has developed the role of Mission Integration across East Valley market to set the direction for spiritual care and care for the underserved. He is chair of the hospital’s Ethics Committee and leads their collaboration with local churches. Marty has taken on the challenge of joyfully cultivating relationships and programs beyond the walls of Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers.
Before moving to Arizona, Marty served as Vice President for Mission Integration for the Sisters of the Holy Cross at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Inc., in South Bend, Ind., and as the Mission leader for the CHW hospital in Red Bluff, Calif., and at St. Mary’s Health Center in St. Louis.
Marty is a native of St. Louis. After attending the Jesuit high school in St. Louis, he graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri with degrees in English and Anthropology. Marty earned a unit of Clinical Pastoral while studying bioethics and Ignatian spiritually at St. Louis University, and received master’s degree in Health Services Management from Webster University.
Marty is an Associate Member of the Sisters of Mercy. He has served on a number of community boards, including Alzheimer’s Services of Northern Indiana, La Casa de Amistad, and worked for the Catholic Church on the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation in Montana. More recently he joined the board of Chandler/Gilbert ARC after forming a collaboration whereby CHW hires ARC clients to collect recyclables at both hospitals. He also serves as Vice President of the Chandler Coalition on Youth Substance abuse and was recently named volunteer of the month by ICAN (Improving Chandler Area Neighborhoods).
