Mikell Christian, R.N., M.S., M.B.A., C.H.E., N.E.A.-B.C., is the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Vice President of Patient Care Services for Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.
Christian joins Mercy Gilbert with nearly two decades of executive leadership experience in healthcare, specifically in nursing and patient care roles. Before joining Mercy Gilbert, Christian held the position of CNO at St. Luke's Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, a 275-bed facility that is part of the Vanguard Health System. Prior to her tenure with St. Luke's, Christian served as Vice President of Patient Care Services and CNO for Saint Mary-Corwin Medical Center in Pueblo, Colo., and as Senior Director of Patient Care Services at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho.
She has also been extremely involved in community leadership, holding prior board positions with the American Red Cross, the Colorado Society for Nurse Executives, the Northwest Organization of Nurse Executives, the Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence, and the Intercollegiate College for Nursing Education. Christian is also a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Healthcare Executives, Sigma Theta Tau, and the American Organization of Nurse Executives.
She completed her education in Denver, Colo., where she earned a master's degree in Business Administration from Regis University, a master's degree in Nursing Administration from the University of Colorado and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Loretto Heights College.
